Blockchain Charity Foundation (BCF) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of blockchain-enabled philanthropy towards achieving global sustainable development. BCF aims to transform philanthropy by developing the world’s first decentralized charity foundation to build a future where blockchain technology can be used to end all forms of poverty and inequality, advance sustainable development and ensure that no one is left behind.
The foundation is initiated by Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, headed by Helen Hai, UNIDO goodwill ambassador, with Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta as the Chair of its senior advisory board.
Our Vision
Our vision is to revolutionize modern philanthropic and charitable practices through advancing innovations in decentralized technologies for efficient giving and transparency, as well as by bringing blockchain tools to the bottom billion to build baseline data infrastructure for digital-empowered self-agency, resilience through community-based value exchange, and holistic economic development into global markets.
Our Mission
Our mission is to lift the Bottom Billion people out of poverty by harnessing blockchain-enabled charitable giving and amplifying philanthropic endeavors by supporting blockchain solutions that unlock new, automated, and transparent pathways for philanthropic endeavors.

The BCF Approach to Decentralizing Sustainable Development

  • Adaptive Holistic Aid

BCF leverages smart contracts’ ability to create outcomes-based financing vehicles, value co-creation mechanisms to define problems and solutions through consensus, and safety contingencies for when life-needs change.

  • Transparency as Strategy

Our M&E focuses on how gathering data simultaneously builds value for beneficiaries and stakeholders that also provides transparency.

  • Agile Philanthropy

We support core decentralized technologies that can quickly be tested and refined incrementally, safely, and adaptively at the frontlines, minimizing risk, that can scale to service a diverse array of needs for the underserved.

  • Identity & Data
    Sovereignty for the

Real change must come from both top-down and bottom-up directives to identify real problems and co-create valuable solutions. We aspire to advance and integrate blockchain in this process to overcome barriers to knowledge, innovation, and funding, to achieve sustainable development for the bottom billion, supported by these four pillars:

International Leadership for Blockchain Advocacy

BCF aspires to be at the vanguard of blockchain-for-good by advocating for the creation of pathways and governance for the adoption and innovation of this technology of multitude and value exchange to flourish into the developing world. BCF therefore leverages its unique position with global leaders and industry pioneers to steer the future of charitable and philanthropic blockchain-enabled standards, pushing the boundaries of where social finance meets social development.

Innovations in Decentralized Giving

Modern charity and philanthropy must change and adapt methods of collection and distribution of wealth to fill massive funding gaps and aid shortfalls for the bottom billion. BCF is committed to supporting how blockchain can transform, streamline, and open up these endeavors that not only tap into new capital sources, but also can create conditional charity frameworks that are more direct, scalable, and accessible, promoting deeper and broader participation on both the giving and receiving ends.

Direct Blockchain Philanthropy

We believe that it takes more than just donating money to make change in the world, and as such, BCF is committed to creating blockchain-empowered social programs that will have direct impact on the bottom billion. Our goal to build community resilience and industrial development begins at the frontlines, working directly with grassroots communities and world-class institutions to adaptively solve local problems with open-source blockchain solutions that can scale beyond the project and community.

Identity & Data Sovereignty for the World

The most vulnerable communities require protection of both their identity and the data that they produce. Before any blockchain solutions may offer value to these communities, they must first have a secure means of identification and participation in data systems within a program. This process not only gives them a safe means to participate, but also provides the bridge towards offering economic identity and banking the unbankable at scale.

Blockchain is Helping Bridge the SDG Funding Gap

There is an estimated annual average of US$ 3.9 trillion of investment that needs to be deployed in developing countries in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 . However, current investment levels of US$1.4 trillion a year leaves a gap of US$ 2.5 trillion annually; in 15 years, this will be a gap of more than US$40 trillion in total. BCF will leverage the exponentially growing cryptocurrency markets to help fill this gap as global cryptocurrency markets continue to climb.

Government/Institutional Donors/Investors

We work with government, institutional, and international NGO leadership to advocate policies, build coalitions, and develop decentralized solutions to help address both massive and local scale problems. We invite you to collaborate to expand the breadth and depth of how blockchain-enabled systems can push social finance in new and expanded dimensions to solving the worlds most pressing problems.

We welcome and actively seek individuals or teams that are developing technologies to solve problems at the fringe of society, to support their work financially and with the extent of our resources and network. We aspire to integrate such efforts into a larger open-source social finance and social development technology ecosystem, accessible for the entire planet to use and improve.

Grassroots Communities / End Beneficiaries

The platform provides technologies and methodologies for how purpose-driven organizations and aid-relief workers can work more closely and effectively with beneficiary communities, including acquiring data to validate needs and problems, as well as to co-create solutions, impact validation, and even value transfer. If you are part of these communities, we are developing the platform so that you can find organizations that may be able to help, or to post needs so that they can find you.

Recipient Organizations

The decentralized charity platform is a place to list projects, needs, mandates, and problems you’re going to solve, so that like-minded folks can support your project, team, or organization.

Individual Donors/Investors

We are building a decentralized charity platform that will help match how you want to help the world with projects and organizations that need your support. All you need is the will to do good and a wallet with any amount of cryptocurrency, larger or small, to commit towards projects you believe in – every bit counts.
